Your favorite two-wheel transportation vehicle, the bicylce, was invented in 1817 by German Inventor Karl von Drais. His machine, known as the "swiftwalker," had no pedals, and its frame was a wooden beam. The device had two wooden wheels with iron rims and leather-covered tires. While it may seem inferior to the bicycles we ride today, this invention was a huge breakthrough for von Drais.
