Almost half the world’s population lives on the equivalent of about US $2 a day. Many of these people have jobs, but still do not have the opportunity to earn more than US $2 a day. This is due to the lack of decent work opportunities and the ability to share progress throughout entire countries.

Founded after the end of the second World War, the&nbsp; United Nations is an international organization made up of 193 countries committed to maintaining international peace and security. While the history of the United Nations is important, its future depends on what we do today. At a United Nations Conference in Rio de Janeiro in 2012, countries adopted a set of goals to end poverty, protect the planet and ensure prosperity for all as part of a new sustainable development agenda. These goals are referred to as The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This series will introduce you to each goal, deepen your familiarity with the history of the United Nations and ultimately make you an SDG champion to transform the world.

Mission 2030: The Global Goals

In 2015 The United Nations launched The Global Goals for Sustainable Development, a series of ambitious targets to end extreme poverty, fight inequality and injustice and fix climate change for everyone by 2030.If the Goals are met, they ensure the health, safety and future of the planet for everyone on it. And their best chance of being met is if everyone on the planet is aware of them.
