  The Skeleton Coast is known for it's dense fog and a desert climate that meets cold sea breezes. Early mornings tend to be very misty, but this often clears by mid-morning. Aside from the fog, it is mostly sunny and precipitation is low. Sounds like the perfect environment for a bike ride, right? Think again.

Kate Leeming's feature film, Diamonds in the Sand is not just about the first-ever complete bicycle journey down Namibia's Skeleton Coast, it is also a journey into the positive, resilient mindset of one of Australia’s most accomplished contemporary explorers.

Cycling a thousand miles is a tough challenge at the best of times, but throw in mammoth sand dunes, ferocious head winds, extreme isolation and lions and it becomes one of the toughest challenges on the planet.

Join Kate on her expedition as she encounters much more than the elements, but rather shares such as poverty, wildlife conservation, innovation, resilience, fearlessness and managing risk.

Breaking the Cycle: Education aims to inspire students to lead their schools, communities, countries, and the world in making positive change by utilizing founder, Dr Kate Leeming's journeys as a source of innovation and creativity.

Kate has cycled a distance of more than twice around the world and on every continent (except Antarctica - that's next!). She has achieved several world firsts , biking through Europe, across Russia, 25,000km through Australia and west to east across Africa. 

Kate's projects contribute towards  alleviating poverty, achieving equality and protecting the environment through education and have been supported by UNESCO.
